Strictly Come Dancing Wembley Whirl | The Results for week 7
Richard Arnold Salsas out of the spotlight, at the supersized Strictly Come Dancing spectacular from Wembley Arena.
Strictly Come Dancing returned to London’s iconic Wembley Arena this weekend, for its 2012 ballroom spectacular. Sir Bruce Forsyth & Tess Daly were masters of ceremony, in what proved to be the grandest and most spectacular Strictly to date.
The remaining nine couples waltzed their way across a supersized Strictly dancefloor, in front of a live audience in the arena of over 6,000 people – as well as the millions more at home – in the ultimate glitterball extravaganza. As ever, the fearsome foursome – Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood – were on hand to critique each routine and award a score out of 10.
On Sunday night’s result show, Tess was joined by Claudia Winkleman to reveal the results. It was revealed that Richard Arnold & Erin Boag and Nicky Byrne & Karen Hauer had both landed in the bottom two and would face the dreaded dance-off.
After both couples had dances for a second time, each judge chose who to save:
CRAIG chose to save Nicky, saying:
“Just for sheer exuberance and energy, I am going to save Nicky and Karen.”
DARCEY chose to save Nicky, saying:
“Well you both performed very well tonight, but for content and energy as well, I am going to save Nicky and Karen.”
BRUNO chose to save Nicky, saying:
“Both highly entertaining, but I have to go as well with power and content, and that was delivered by Nicky & Karen.”
Meaning Richard would be the next celebrity to leave the competition.
Reflecting back on the results of tonight’s show, Richard stated “I’ve loved it. Do you know what is amazing about this experience is that this party is happening in millions of homes around the country. The one thing I’ll take from it is that now when I walk down the street people no longer cross the road to avoid me! Now they smile, they want to chat. It’s been amazing. You guys here have been amazing. You know how much I love you guys [the judges] and to be part of this company of players has been amazing. I know where I’ll be next week – it’s my birthday, it’s a Saturday, I’ll be with my Godchildren, with my family & friends who have been going through the whole thing, and I’ll be popping a cork and seeing who is here next week. It’s extraordinary, this show just gets better and better. And one final thing – this is madam’s [Erin] tenth series, I call her “her indoors” and a round of applause for Erin Boag, she has made the last two months fantastic. I always thought I’d miss the wardrobe most, but I don’t think I will, I will miss Erin Boag, who – every Monday – it’s like climbing a mountain, and every Monday she’d say ‘welcome to another week. I’ll miss that on Monday.”
And their professional partner Erin added “Richard has made the last two months of my life a big joy. He’s full of life and full of energy, and I’m really proud to have taught him, and to have danced with you. And to call you my friend.”
Sunday’s Results show featured a performance from supergroup pop sensation, Girls Aloud, singing their new song Something New, as well as the legendary pop princess Kylie Minogue, with a special rendition of her seminal classic The Locomotion.
Next week’s show will be broadcast on Saturday 24th November at 1830 with the results show on Sunday 25th November at 1925 on BBC One and BBC One HD.
