STRICTLY COME DANCING – CELEBS BATTLE INJURIES AFTER NOTCHING UP OVER 900 HOURS OF TRAINING!
As the celebrities prepare to take to the dance floor for their first live performances, the rigorous training is taking its toll with injuries abound for the celebrities and their professional partners.
Natalie has had to see a physio to release tension in her hip resulting in knee pain from too much training with professional partner Artem. The couple have been sticking to a rigorous six hours a day minimum in a bid to impress viewers this weekend.
Meanwhile, the doctor of the group – so to speak, Patrick Robinson who plays Dr Martin Ashford aka Ash, took his training to the Casualty set as he rehearsed on set with Crystal Yu who plays junior doctor Lily Chao in the hospital drama.
But his medical knowledge from playing a doctor hasn’t helped him avoid injury as he too feels the efforts of training too hard. He has been forced to wear knee supports on both knees after their excessive training for the jive has left him with sore joints, and his professional partner Anya Garnis managed to injure her toe in training that left it infected and swollen.
The celebrities have already exceeded the amount of training done by last year’s line up in these initial weeks, with the couples reaching a whopping 905 hours spent rehearsing so far for their first dance this weekend. Ben and Kristina alone notched up 44 hours in one week.
And Anton du Beke surprised former Bond girl Fiona Fullerton during training for their first dance by dressing up as the famous 007 to rehearse their tango, but will they have a Licence to Thrill on the dance floor by this weekend?
