Paul Smith + Principal dancers of The Royal Ballet

Royal Ballet Portraits by Paul Smith

Tomorrow, leading menswear designer Paul Smith opens his exhibition entitled “Royal Ballet Portraits,”  a collection of 17 photographs featuring The Royal Ballet’s Principal dancers, to be shown at 9 Albemarle Street.

Smith met Royal Ballet Principal Steven McRae at his studio last year (he has great taste in clothes!) and the two got talking.  As a result, Smith’s portraits were premiered in Japan while the Royal Ballet were on tour this summer.  Smith used monochrome tones, aiming to focus on contrasting light between dancer and background.

The Royal Ballet Portraits exhibition will run from 23rd September until 9th October 2010. All prints are for sale in two sizes in editions of 20.
